Collaborative drawings - Processed Fragility

Processed Fragility is a collaborative project between artists Emily Snell, Rebecca Griffiths and Scott Daniels. The title reflects a desire to unite the industrial with the organice. It explores the connection between these two perceieved dichotomies and asks how the struggle between them gives rise to the creation of new forms and processes. (Rebecca Griffiths, March 2009)

These experimental drawings are the product of our collaboration so far.

Edinburgh College of Art Graduate Degree Show

A fridge sound buzzes high above from a vent; a red mouth attracts, absorbs and draws you forwards as you encounter a body-length stainless steel table. Drawn further on and into a black cavity space an intimate screen plays short video clips relating to processes and actions that may previously have been performed in this sterile environment. Upon exiting this cavity bronze mouth casts appear to have been extracted from the body and rubber plugs and cones are arranged on an organ table, with the potential to be implanted.

Through an installation of elements; sculpture, photography, sound and video I would like to present an investigation of the human body. My intention is to project a sense of absorption and protrusion, humour and intrigue, erotic and morbid ambiguous imagery.
